What Season Are You In?

The philosophy behind Bella Aromatica's Wellness by Seasons.

We move through many seasons in a lifetime.

Not only the seasons outside our windows, but seasons within ourselves — seasons of energy, emotion, change, and growth.

There are times when we feel ready for something new. Times when we are full of energy and want to connect with the world. Times when we naturally turn inward and reflect. And times when what we need most is simply to slow down and rest.

At Bella Aromatica, we believe wellness should recognise these changing rhythms.

Because wellness is not one-size-fits-all.

Wellness Changes as We Do

What makes us feel well today may not be what we need six months from now.

Our energy changes. Our emotions change. Our responsibilities change. We move through different stages of life.

Rather than following the same wellness routine every day, we can learn to notice where we are and ask a gentler question:

What do I need in this season of my life?

This idea became the inspiration behind Bella Aromatica's Wellness by Seasons philosophy.

Our four seasons — Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter — represent more than the changing weather. They are also a way of recognising the different emotional and energetic seasons we experience within ourselves.

An Idea Rooted in Ancient Wisdom

The idea of adapting our wellbeing to changing seasons is far from new.

For thousands of years, Eastern philosophies have observed the relationship between human wellbeing and the rhythms of nature.

The Huangdi Neijing (The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine), one of the foundational texts of traditional Chinese medicine, describes wellbeing as deeply connected with these natural rhythms. As the seasons change, the way we live changes with them.

Nature does not remain in a constant state of productivity.

It grows. It flourishes. It releases. It rests.

We can learn from that.

Spring — Growth & Renewal

Spring is nature beginning again.

New leaves appear, days become warmer, and energy starts to move outward.

In the Huangdi Neijing, spring is associated with growth and expansion — a time to move, spend time outdoors, and allow energy to unfold rather than constrain it.

Our own Spring may arrive when we feel ready for a fresh beginning.

A new idea. A change in direction. A quiet sense that we are ready to move forward again.

Spring reminds us to make space for possibility.

Summer — Joy & Flourishing

Summer is nature in full expression — warm, abundant, and alive.

Traditionally, it is a season associated with activity, connection, and joy.

Our inner Summer can feel similar.

It may be a time when energy comes easily, when we want to create, explore, connect with others, and enjoy what life is offering us.

Not every season needs to be about fixing or improving ourselves.

Sometimes wellness is simply about allowing ourselves to experience joy and flourish.

Autumn — Reflection & Letting Go

Autumn brings a different kind of beauty.

Nature begins to turn inward. Leaves fall. Energy settles.

The Huangdi Neijing associates autumn with gathering and conserving our energy as we prepare for the quieter months ahead.

Emotionally, our Autumn may be a time for reflection.

We might find ourselves reconsidering what matters, simplifying our lives, or gently letting go of something that no longer belongs in the next chapter.

Just as a tree does not hold onto every leaf, perhaps we don't need to either.

Autumn reminds us that letting go can also be a form of growth.

Winter — Rest & Restoration

Winter is nature at rest.

From the outside, very little appears to be happening. Yet beneath the surface, nature is conserving its resources and preparing for what will eventually emerge again.

The Huangdi Neijing encourages rest, warmth, and conservation during winter.

Our own Winter seasons may arrive after periods of change, responsibility, or simply doing too much.

At these times, wellness may not mean adding another goal to our lives.

It may mean doing less.

Sleeping a little longer. Creating quiet. Nourishing ourselves. Protecting our energy.

Winter reminds us that rest is not separate from growth. It is part of it.

The Season Outside Isn't Always the Season Within

This is where Bella Aromatica's interpretation of the seasons goes a little further.

You may be surrounded by the warmth of summer and still feel as though you are in an inner Winter.

Or it may be the middle of winter, yet something new is beginning in your life and you feel unmistakably like Spring.

Your season might last a few weeks, several months, or change as life changes around you.

There is no right season to be in.

The purpose is simply to notice.

Perhaps you are in Spring — ready for renewal and something new.

Perhaps you are in Summer — energised, joyful, and open to the world.

Perhaps you are in Autumn — reflecting, simplifying, and letting go.

Or perhaps you are in Winter — needing restoration, nourishment, and permission to slow down.

At Bella Aromatica, this awareness becomes the starting point for creating more personal wellness rituals.

Not What should I be doing?

But:

What do I need right now?

What Season Are You In?

At the heart of Wellness by Seasons is one simple belief:

We do not need the same things in every season.

By paying attention to our energy, emotions, and stage of life, we can begin to create rituals that feel more aligned with where we are — rather than where we think we should be.

So take a moment and ask yourself:

What season am I in right now?
